Dragon Warrior - Tiger Wizard
Warlock Roc - Bat Alchemist
The Mad Dungeon podcast has two formats. First, members of Epic Levels and a guest from the RPG community create a system-neutral, playable one-page adventure map using improv, comedy, and lifetimes wasted on roleplaying games. They then publish and release these adventures as a PDF through their Patreon and for free on this very site. They also release Side Quest episodes where the hosts discuss games they’ve played and gaming news.

This week we talk about all the fun we had at Cabin in the Woods Con & Gamehole Con 2023.
At Cabin in the Woods Con 2023 we played:
Pukeapocalypse – run by Andrew Bellury
D&D 5E – “That Which Lurks Beneath” – run by Ryan Steffen
D666 (Tiny Dungeon meets Maze Rats) “Wizard Robbers” where we rob the wizard manses from DCC’s Dying Earth Box Set – Jeremy Deram
The Dept. of Kids Who Know There are Monsters Under the Bed – original game playtest – run by Zach Cowan
Mystic Punks – “The Thrill Kill Ministry” playtest – run by Steve Albertson
D&D 5E – “Dragon War: Paralyzing Gas” -run by Aleksandr Revzin
We’re gearing up for our Season 3 in 2024, which will be an actual play exploring our Epic Levels’ setting of Epicia and the city-state of Def Jamisus. We’ll be using the Mystic Punks RPG ruleset, and we’ll continue interviewing and making things with RPG creators on our Side Quests.
At Gamehole Con 2023 we interviewed lots of our favorite creators for what will be our Season 2 grand finale in December. Steve ran our Mad Dungeon rooms using Old School Essentials, but Steve and Andrew spent most of their time at the booth talking about all things Epic Levels and Exalted Funeral.
Other highlights were spending time with their RPG friends like Levi Combs, Skeeter Green, Thom Wilson, Brian Shutter, Luau Lou (who all played Shadow Dark RPG together), Brian Colin, Alex Kammer, Jeff Richard, and so many more.
Dungeon Cats is a rules-light, casual TTRPG by our own Tiger Wizard. The pre-launch page is now live on the Epic Level’s Kickstarter! Click the “notify me on launch” button to make sure you don’t miss out!

Monsters! Mazes! Martinis & Minotaurs! The Epic Levels – Armor Classy CDungeon is now available for purchase at Exalted Funeral. This amazing artifact is both a compact disc of the fantasy RPG hip hop album, and a full-color compact dungeon adventure that’s based on the album’s songs and Wisconsin oddity attraction, The House on the Rock. The included system-agnostic mini-adventure features a fully illustrated 10 room dungeon crawl.
