THE LOVE WIZARD BAZAAR
The Love Wizard Bazaar is a labyrinthian community of shops, stalls and homes that surround Mookie’s tower. It’s a warm and inviting place of exotic items & smells, and filled with passionate denizens who indulge in primal carnality. It’s a market of beauty, danger and luxury. Wine is plentiful and spontaneous performances erupt constantly. Mookie is singing “The Power of Love” from the highest spire.
Mookie the Love Wizard: Mookie is an immortal god of love posing as a wizard. He created and peopled the entire mega dungeon through his cosmic sphere of influence—the strong, clichéd, meta belief that journeys are about the “friends we made along the way,” much like the Mad Dungeon podcast itself.
Wizard Tower of Love w/ Monte Cook: Mookie will allow you to leave the dungeon after you’ve made a lover’s leap from the top of his tower while holding the hand of a true love that you met in his dungeon. You’ll take no damage from the fall and gain the reward of becoming eternally clean. The purity of your love gives you the blessing that dirt and grime will never stick to you again. Mookie will then create a portal for you to return home.
Places of interest:
The Gas Top w/ Mike Mason: Inside a fog is a tall, spindly, ethereal undertaker in a top hat. Inside the hat are strange, glowing-orange, lumps of raw ginger that he offers. If you eat the ginger, the hat appears on your head like a flaming demon crown.“You’re now the owner of the Gas Top. I’ll return in a year to collect the soul of the hat’s owner.” While wearing the hat, you may create and become fog. You can transfer ownership using the ginger.
Grand Master Lucille’s Skip-Kick w/ Skip Williams: This amorphous squid blob creates pseudopod appendages from her body and secretes a slick grease. She’ll teach you her legendary skip-kick if you can defeat her, a maneuver in which one does a short shuffle to transcend time and space to surround your opponent with a flurry of roundhouse kicks. A successful hit sends the target skipping across the floor for 100 feet, like a stone across water, blasting through any obstacles. A critical success kicks them 30 seconds into the future.
Flying Crimson Chaos Beaver w/ Jeff Richard: The corrupted and horribly warped FCCB desires destruction, carnage and pretty flowers. This bus-sized menace has an eye-patch, face scar, and its primary weapons are a monstrous tail and one beaver-tooth fang that can chop a tree down in one bite. The Matchstick Army is the FCCB’s cult of animated tree splinters who attack as a swarm and can become a dam in an instant. The FCCB has a band of kidnapped celebrities manacled to his tail.
Col. Cybercop w/ Joseph Goodman: This techno-dungeon shrine contains the rusted hulk of Col. Cybercop, the robotic body of a famous avatar of law, war & technology. Solving the puzzle of his anatomy will open a panel that says Switch Here For Weapons. Three weapon switches: 1) Automatic pistol with quickdraw thigh holster, 2) A bipedal gun drone and the visor that controls it, 3) Cyber-knight wristwatch that can summon a hard hologram cyberhorse mount, and a USB cable that straightens out into a cyber-lance that impales people with information.
Laser Sword Assembly w/ Marc Miller: Space marine drill sergeants stand behind a recruiting booth with a laser sword manual (study for a bonus) and a variety of laser sword parts. They’ll allow you to keep the laser sword if you can assemble it blindfolded faster than one of them, but they’ll be relentless in their attempts to have you enlist immediately. If you assemble it incorrectly, the blade’s pointing the wrong direction injuring you. Lose 1d4 fingers.
Skedaddle: The Mice Prison Rodeo w/ Shanna Germain: A large terrarium contains a misty, castle-like, old-west rodent prison run by hippy mice. In front of the castle is a rodeo arena where tough, tatted-up prison mice in adorable lil’ cowboy outfits train in wagon-wheel treadmills before competing for time off of their sentences. Events: cockroach lasso, opossum wrestling, cottontail tie-down roping, and bucking pit viper riding. A crowd surrounds the terrarium, betting on who will win/survive, including a wizard who offers to shrink you down to compete.
Anfernee, Dealer of Anthropomorphic Antiquities w/ Chris Lindsay: This bombastic hippofolk street vendor wears a tutu and a trenchcoat filled with contraband. He’s selling vials of illicit goo (types: red dragon, titmouse or untainted) that brings objects to life, and recently animated objects: flowers, a pack of spork commandos willing to go on missions for you, a bandana blindfold that tells you what it sees, and a small glass jar mushroom terrarium with googly eyes and talking moss mouth.
Yorin, Broomstick Custodian w/ Sean K. Reynolds: Yorin is of an ambiguous humanoid species with intensely blue eyes. They facilitate a broomstick crafting area consisting of: bristles growing out of pots to make the brush, a variety of yarns to attach the bristles to a staff, and a bucket of 3 types of magic staves (fire, charm & cursed). A successfully crafted broom will fly and either: leave a trail of fire, dazzle folks watching you ride, or curse you to carry your broomstick until you can talk someone else into taking it.
Appendix N: Hudson Hawk, Harlequin novels, Game of Thrones, Huey Lewis & The News “The Power Of Love,” Go (board game), Peanuts (Lucy making Charlie Brown miss the football), Mortal Kombat, Jean Claude Van Damme, Little Richard’s “Lucille,” Status Quo’s “Pictures Of Matchstick Men,” Metalocalypse, Robocop franchise (and statue in Detroit), TMNT (mousers, animals in ooze), Rifts (Palladium), Micronauts, Batman, Rubik’s Cubing Competitions, Hellraiser, The Hobbit (Thorin’s song), Star Wars: Andor, Michael Bay films (explosions), Beauty and the Beast, Moon Knight, Fantasia, Toy Story 4, Harry Potter (quidditch), The Craft.
