This week’s guest is Brigitte Winter of Scryptid Games. She did editing and art direction for Assemblage by Nat Mesnard and illustrated by Jill Colbert of Manfish Inc. Assemblage is a card-based, GM-less, gamescience-inspired eco-fantasy TTRPG in which 2-6 players collaboratively build the story of an interdependent ecosystem on the verge of environmental disaster. We talk about Against the Gloom and The Goodest Girls, her sequel to Psychic Trash Detectives, where you earn real treats for stupid human tricks in this zany, diceless, sitcom story game about senior shelter animals living their best lives together!
Crowdfunding now is Cryptids: Games, Stories, & Uncanny Ephemera, an anthology of TTRPGs, fiction, poetry, and other ephemera that flips the lens on conventional cryptid lore. In this book, cryptids are beings with vivid lives, goals, and stories of their own to share: featuring cryptids like Bigfoot, Mothman, Nessie, and more.

MD 412 – The Fluffy Detective w/ Brigitte Winter
The Fluffy Detective (TFD) was exiled from a heavenly realm to make the world a better place by solving mysteries. They can return home once they solve their final mystery.
TFD wears a classic noir trench coat that’s filled with adorable, cuddling critters that are the bodiless spirits of mysteries that need to be solved. Their power increases based on the amount of unsolved mysteries in the coat.
TFD’s furry face can shift into any of the faces associated with the mysteries in their coat. TFD gains some of that spirit’s memories, mannerisms, and helps them blend into different situations. Strange music plays while the face transformation takes place. Photos of TFD come out blurry, and they have the power to make others not remember them if they wish.
TFD’s detective office home is in a cozy cave den, deep in the side of an active volcano that gently smokes like a chimney.
