This week’s guest is Amy Vorpahl and we talk about her work as the voice of Fizban in Fizban’s Treasury of Dragons, her Candlekeep Mysteries adventure Kandlekeep Dekonstruktion, her Dropout TV work as character Efink Murderdeath on Dimension 20 Side Quest Escape from the Bloodkeep, and Breaking News: No Laugh Newsroom.
We get into her D&D music, including her latest album Behold Her Dreams and its accompanying music videos. The show she sold to Hulu called Must Love Dragons about nerdy girls dating, that ended up not getting made and her horny Hallmark-ish X-mas movie. We discuss other streaming things she’s done from Geek & Sundry to Critical Role and her D&D Beyond show “Jingleshearth.”

MD 238 Sarguar Nardgar MacDuffin’s Chuckle Cottage w/ Amy Vorpahl
Ask the players for a silly name, place and object to fill out this ad-lib: “I know that (a PC) kissed (a silly name) underneath the (a silly place) and you had your (a silly object) in your left hand.”
Chuckle Cottage: This hipster bachelor pad is quintessential cottagecore with its bucolic, bespoke items of luxury and comfort. Delightful desserts are available everywhere. Paintings of wizards and dragons line the walls, but above the cozily burning fireplace is an incorporeal phantom portrait of a sheet-with-eye-holes ghost that’ll consume you with psychic damage, turning your hair gray, if you look at it.
A magically animated red-plaid Duvet will fly to whoever is most cozy, swaddle them in a warm embrace, and deliver hot cocoa to its chosen champion. This person gets one “do-over” in the game. Duvet a sweetheart, yet formidable in a fight, and can speak when their mouth is unbuttoned.
Sarguar Nardgar MacDuffin: This old, jolly, red-plaid clad wizard is a Santa (not thee Santa) with pointy cheeks, long white hair & beard, and a golf hat with a pom. He loves eating sweets. He speaks in a Scottish accent, and knows your deepest secrets. Sarguar is sitting on a rocking chair, smoking a pipe, sipping cocoa with peppermint schnapps and picking at a plate of haggis. He greets you with a big “Ho Ho Ho,” in a thick Scottish brogue. He stands up slowly with his pipe, offers you Magic Cookies that’ll make you feel: 1-cozy, 2-whimsical or 3-awful, and gives you the rules of the game. He has a massive bag of swords to give away to the winners.
The game: In real life (IRL) don’t laugh or even smile for up to 4 minutes or you lose. Players have to make eye contact with one other person. DM may say the name Sarguar Nardgar MacDuffin and read the above ad-lib to attempt to evoke laughter. Everyone else must remain silent. If you make it one minute: +1 tiny olive skewer sword, two minutes: +2 short sword, three minutes: +3 long sword, four minutes: +4 Vorpahl Sword!
Don’t laugh. Don’t warm your hands by the fire, and don’t you dare eat those cookies!
